කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ඉතිහාසය අධ්‍යයන අංශයේ හිටපු අංශාධිපති ජ්‍යේෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය ආචාර්ය ජානකී. ඩී. ජයවර්ධන ඇදුරුතුමිය අද අප අතරින් වෙන්වී ගිය බව සංවේගයෙන් යුතුව දැනුම් දෙමි. කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය ඒකාලෝක කළ පහනක් නිවී ගියේ ය. මාහට හමු වූ විශිෂ්ට ආචාර්යතුමියක ලෙස එතුමිය හැඳින්වීමට කැමැත්තෙමි. මාගේ දර්ශනපති උපාධි පර්යේෂණයේ ප්‍රධාන උපදේශකවරිය වූයේ ඇයයි. වසර තුනක කාලයක් කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ඉතිහාසය අංශයේ ඇයගේ අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ ඉතිහාසකරණය පිළිබඳ මා ලද දැනුම අසමසම වේ. මේ විශිෂ්‍ට ජාත්‍යන්තර තලයේ විද්වත් ආචාර්යවරිය පිළිබඳ තබන කෙටි මතක සටහනකි.

නුවරඑළිය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ වලපනේ දී උපත ලද ජානකී දීප්තිකා ජයවර්ධන සිය මූලික අධ්‍යාපනය නිල්දණ්ඩාහින්න ශ්‍රී සුමංගල විද්‍යාලයෙන් ද, සිය උසස් අධ්‍යාපනය මහනුවර මහාමායා බාලිකා විද්‍යාලයෙන් ද ලැබීය. අනතුරුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය අධ්‍යාපනය සඳහා පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට ඇතුළත් වූවා ය. 1992 දී පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයෙන් ශාස්ත්‍රවේදී ඉතිහාසය විෂය ගෞරව උපාධිය ලබාගනුයේ ප්‍රථම පන්ති සාමාර්ථ්‍යයක් දිනා ගනිමිනි. එසේ ම, එම විෂය සඳහා වන අශෝක, මේබල් ජයසූරිය, කෝබට් යන සියලු ත්‍යාග සිය පළමු උපාධිය වෙනුවෙන් ඇය දිනාගත්තා ය. ඉන් පසුව වර්ෂ 2001 දී ඉතිහාසය පිළිබඳ දර්ශනපති උපාධිය
පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයෙන් ද, දර්ශනසූරී උපාධිය 2003 දී එක්සත් රාජධානියේ යෝර්ක් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයෙන් දිනා ගන්නා ලද්දේ Cultural Construction Of The ‘Sinhala Woman’ and Women’s Lives In Post-independence Sri Lanka මැයෙන් වනිතා අධ්‍යයනය සම්බන්ධයෙන් කළ පර්යේෂණයෙනි.

1992 දී පේරාදෙණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයෙන් පිරිනැමෙන ශිෂ්‍යත්වයක් ද , 1999 දී එක්සත් රාජධානියේ පොදුරාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩලීය කොමිෂන් සභාවෙන් පිරිනැමෙන පොදුරාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩලීය ශිෂ්‍යත්වය ද ඇය විසින් දිනාගන්නා ලදි. ඇයගේ වෙන්ව යාම සැබවින් ම දැයට සිදුවූ මහත් පාඩුවකි. විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සිසුන් වෙනුවෙන් දැඩි කැපවීමෙන් යුතුව කටයුතු කළ ඈ දයාබර ආචාර්යවරියකි ; ආදරණීය දෙදරු මවකි. අයුක්තිය, අසාධාරණය වෙනුවෙන් දැඩිව පෙනී සිටීම ඈ තුළ දක්නට ලැබුණාය. නොලුෂි හා දුලන යන පුතුන්ටත්, ඇයගේ ආදරණීය සැමියා වන හේමන්ත ජයවර්ධන මහතාටත් මාගේ බලවත් ශෝකය පළ කර සිටිමි. එසේ ම, අපගේ විශිෂ්ට ආචාර්යතුමියට නිවන් සුව පතමි.
